clusterctl 1.12.4, released by Kubernetes SIGs, is a command-line utility designed to automate the creation, upgrade, and deletion of Cluster API management clusters. Operating within the Systems & Network category, the tool implements the Cluster API contract to turn any conformant Kubernetes cluster into a management plane that can, in turn, provision and manage workload clusters across on-premises and public-cloud infrastructure. Typical use cases include initializing a first management cluster with the required Custom Resource Definitions and controllers, upgrading an existing management cluster to a newer Cluster API release without manual manifest editing, and cleaning up all provider components when a management cluster is no longer needed. Because clusterctl embeds knowledge of version compatibility between providers, it can fetch the correct component versions for AWS, Azure, vSphere, or bare-metal infrastructure and apply them in the correct order, reducing operational risk during upgrades. The project maintains seventeen published releases, demonstrating an active development cadence that keeps pace with the quarterly Kubernetes release cycle. Each release is accompanied by published artifacts and checksums that can be retrieved directly or through automated package managers. The software is available for free on get.nero.com, with downloads provided via trusted Windows package sources (e.g. winget), always delivering the latest version, and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
